In the upcoming exhibition, ‘construct’ is not just a title, but a guiding principle. This exhibition focuses on the materials artists excavate, appropriate, manipulate and collect to decode the world and will open at Cob Gallery next week. Curated by Brooke Wilson, curator and co-founder of the arts collective Boys Don’t Cry, the exhibition will present the works of Emma Adler, Rafael D’Aló, Bobby Dowler, Sylvie Hayes-Wallace, Ali Glover, Charlotte Thrane, and Anne Tallentire.

The artists in Construct delve into the concepts of object biography, material manipulation, and the process of constructing meaning. It shows the act of building or uniting materials to create a secondary structure, thereby imbuing it with a new layer of significance, exploring the purpose of construction as a form of communication and examines its power in deconstructing subject matter.

From domestic materials commenting on social infrastructure to reused canvases challenging conventional artistic norms, Construct revels in the tension between creation and deconstruction.

'Construct' will run from 23rd February - 28th March 2024. For more information, visit Cob's website.
