Like nothing else in the universe, Myro Wulff as a photographer has put his time into the conquest of mastering all the techniques, perfection and precisions of photography—in order to satiate his curiosity, explore freely, and test the boundaries of the practice. Much like the belief that you have to know all the rules very well before you can know which ones to bend or break.

ViewMyro was born in Germany but first moved to London to study at Central Saint Martins up until he graduated in 2009. After his graduation, Myro uprooted his life to New York where he began his photography career in the world of fashion photography. There, the long hours he had put in in the industry set to a fast-paced highly commercialized backdrop had rendered him familiar with all the technical knowledge and skills. The familiarity enabled Myro to be fluent in chasing precision and perfection albeit with the pace or pressure that he has to face by being in the industry.
Yet all the rules and restrictions never put out Myro’s playful spirit and curiosity. As of late, he has shifted his focus into exploring limitations and boundaries of the practice of photography, and how he can go beyond them. On his current pursuit of a Masters’ Degree in Photography at the Royal College of Art in London, Myro experiments with his own ideas and how he can shape them best, to sharpen the fluency of his own personal creative language.

ViewSetting his foot now on the other end of the spectrum, away from the fast-paced precision-oriented world of commercial fashion photography, Myro is free to wander around with openness, playfulness, and experimentation at the base of his sole. These notions are a staple in his artistic and stylistic methodology as he tests the boundaries of photography, as Myro’s work is highly process-driven, with a compass of deep feeling and thinking with his blood.
This type of process opens up a portal to uncertainties—a location feared by most, and most forget that could lead to something beautiful if you approach it with flair, playfulness and a sense of detachment to let them be. Myro approaches uncertainties with the latter; making him, the bodies, and the many materials he engaged with in his experimentations share a certain rebellious streak, a refusal to behave predictably.

ViewThe acts of revolt then in turn created powerful subjective pieces that pushes the cages of specific interpretation being assigned to it, and lets the audience interpret it freely in million different ways.
